The Opportunity  

Here at RS, we have an exciting opportunity to join our leadership team as Head of PMO (Project Management Office). This individual is responsible for driving the successful delivery of the market's strategic priorities by owning and governing the end-to-end Value Driver Framework. Acting as the operational engine behind the strategy, this individual ensures that key business objectives are translated into clear plans, measurable outcomes, and disciplined execution.

 

This person provides leadership, challenge, and coordination across functions to maintain focus on the initiatives that create the greatest business value, ensuring accountability, visibility, and pace of delivery. As a highly proactive and influential leader, they identify barriers, drive decisions, and relentlessly follow through to conclusion, ensuring strategic commitments are delivered and intended benefits are realised.

You will play a pivotal role in turning strategic ambition into tangible business results. By providing the structure, governance, and leadership needed to execute the market's most important priorities, the role ensures that resources are focused on the initiatives that deliver the greatest value and that commitments translate into measurable outcomes.

 

Through proactive leadership, effective stakeholder engagement, and a relentless focus on delivery, the Head of PMO creates visibility, accountability, and momentum across the organisation. By identifying risks early, removing barriers, and driving initiatives through to completion, the role enables the business to achieve its strategic objectives faster, realise agreed benefits, and build a culture of execution excellence.

What You’ll Bring 

  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into executable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand value drivers and business performance levers.
  • Experience managing strategic portfolios, programmes, or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate meaningful insights.
  • Proven ability to influence, challenge, and engage senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to align diverse teams behind common objectives.
  • Ability to hold stakeholders accountable whilst maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Strong programme, project, or portfolio management expertise.
  • Proven experience establishing governance frameworks, performance tracking, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Ability to identify risks, dependencies, and barriers and drive timely resolution.
  • Strong prioritisation and organisational skills within complex and fast-paced environments.
  • Highly resilient, persistent, and tenacious in driving initiatives through to completion.
  • Results-oriented with a strong focus on execution and benefit realisation.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and creating clarity for others.

 

Not essential but would be great if you also have

  • Experience implementing portfolio management methodologies and best practices.
  • Knowledge of benefits realisation frameworks and value tracking approaches.
  • Experience leading or supporting large-scale organisational change programmes.
  • Understanding of change management principles and stakeholder adoption strategies.
  • Experience with investment governance, business case development, and resource allocation
  • Budget management and financial planning experience.
  • Professional qualifications such as MSP, PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, or equivalent.
  • Experience within a matrixed or multinational organisation.
