Local IT Engineer (UK Based)
Location: Corby (Onsite – 5 days a week)

RS Group is seeking an experienced Local IT Engineer to join our permanent team. This role is primarily based in Corby, with occasional travel to other UK locations. You will provide technical support to end users where issues cannot be resolved by our remote support partner. Your work will cover incident and request management, support for presentation equipment and events, and project implementation, introducing new services, solutions, or equipment to end users or the RS site.

Please note that occasional support outside regular hours, including evenings and weekends, will be required.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage all incidents and service requests for Corby, local branches, and remote UK users that cannot be resolved by the remote service provider
  • Monitor and support the Hardware Technician role to develop technical skills
  • Provide support, guidance, and ticket management from the Corby Tech Hub
  • Support other locations as required, including holiday and sickness cover
  • Provide IT support for UK events and presentations
  • Assist with incident management outside working hours and on weekends
  • Maintain and support physical equipment used by internal customers
  • Record and track all IT assets within your geography
  • Deliver on-site support for project activities
  • Identify and resolve IT/telephony hardware and software issues, ensuring SLAs are met
  • Perform application wrapping, scripting, and testing as needed
  • Adhere to local working practices, legal requirements, and health and safety regulations

 

About You

You are a proactive and skilled IT professional who thrives in a hands-on, customer-facing environment. You enjoy solving technical challenges, supporting end users directly, and contributing to IT projects that improve processes and systems. You are confident working independently, can manage your own workload, and are comfortable providing support both onsite and remotely across multiple locations.

What You’ll Need

  • Previous experience in deskside or L3 support
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience in identifying and resolving user-based IT/telephony hardware and software issues
  • Solid understanding of core Microsoft technologies
  • Experience managing infrastructure patching cabinets
  • Familiarity with service delivery team practices and standards
  • Experience working in a customer-facing organization
  • Ability to develop relationships with internal departments and external third parties
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and working practices
  • Strong organizational skills to manage daily workloads, meet SLAs, and deliver on agreed activity plans
