Billing & Credit Control Manager

Location – Warrington (WA3 6UT).
The US Billing & Credit Control Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the entire billing and receivable’s function for the US region, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal and external standards. This role is key to safeguarding company revenue, optimising cash flow, and reducing financial risk.
A core focus will be driving a strategic reduction in Aged Debt through the implementation of streamlined billing processes, robust credit policies, and proactive debtor management. You will lead a team of billing and credit control professionals, develop KPIs, and implement continuous improvements that support financial stability and working capital objectives.

What you will be doing:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead and develop the Billing and Credit Control team to deliver high performance and consistent results.
- Enforce credit policies and procedures.
- Define and monitor KPIs in line with company objectives.
- Identify best practices, automation opportunities and standardization wherever possible to enable successful scaling of the business.
- Propose structure and/or staffing changes to optimize team performance.
Billing Oversight:
- Where necessary schedule and lead monthly billing meetings with appropriate departments.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant billing across all accounts.
- Monitor and enhance invoice accuracy to reduce disputes and delays and actively collaborate with other teams to achieve this.
- Troubleshoot any system issues which affect billing and support the team to do the same.
- Act as the key escalation point for billing and receivables matters with internal stakeholders and major clients.
Credit Control & Collections:
- Ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables, resolving issues that prevent payment.
- Ensure timely and accurate cash allocation and reconciliations in alignment with key financial controls
- Implement tailored collection strategies for high-risk or high-value accounts.
- Drive improvements in DSO and cash flow forecasting.
- Calculate quarterly and annual bad debt adjustments and carry out write-offs.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Produce regular reports on areas such as billing performance, cash collection and aged debt.
- Conduct root cause analysis on overdue debts and recommend corrective actions.
- Support audit and compliance activities, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to internal controls.
- Provide reporting of client activity internally to Finance Leadership for forecasting and reconciliation purposes.

- Proven ability to reduce Aged Debt, Unbilled and manage high-volume ledgers.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and MS Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
