Maintenance Technician

Full-time

 

The Project Maintenance Technician supports with the delivery of technical projects and technical support for both MHE and Building Services for their daily activities on behalf of the Technical Development team whilst achieving first class levels of Health and Safety compliance and customer satisfaction.

 

This role requires flexible working hours to meet the demands of individual projects, which may include shift working for which a premium will be paid for the duration worked, however the role is predominantly a dayshift role.

 

About the role

 

You’ll be working closely with the Technical Supervisor on a range of technical projects across our Nuneaton site, which vary widely in scope, so the work will be varied and interesting!

 

With the size of RS’s operation, we are constantly improving our warehouse automation, so will be tapping into your relevant industrial electrical experience and ideally some ability to work with PLCs.

 

You will be responsible for being a key point of contact for 3rd parties working on site, so previous experience managing contractors would be an advantage, as well as experience of maintaining a safe working environment for all.

 

Accountabilities:

 

Financial Responsibility
•To have an overview and understanding of the site facilities Revenue budget including what impact you have upon it through your role.


Problem Solving
• Demonstrates proven experience of Continuous Improvement problem solving to ensure effective root cause analysis


Decision Making
• To work with the Site Management team to support in the site-wide culture


Planning & Organising
• Coordinate internal/external resource to ensure business needs are met
• Management of external contractors in order to maximize work  and reduce overall costs
• Assisting the Technical Project Manager with the development and implementation of the CAPEX budget across the UK Geography


Influencing
• Peer Group/ employees at a similar level in other areas of the business
• Ensure the company policies regarding holidays, grievance and absenteeism are adhered to
• Internal daily contacts include all internal business customers.


Communication
• Communicate with team to convey and share information, check understanding, etc.
• Effectively dealing with Customer Queries
• Deal with Internal Customer complaints and advising of time scales

• Deal with and discuss projects, service and maintenance requirements with external contractors

 

What we are looking for from you:

 

  • Previous experience in a similar industrial environment
  • Able to interpret electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and PLC drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of H&S legislation.
  • Relevant H&S qualifications (IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent)
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office and Agility.
  • Ability to coach and lead on technical issues / problem solving.
  • Recognised trade qualification ONC or equivalent
  • Experience of working within a time critical, distribution/operational/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of managing contractors.
