We are currently seeking an accomplished Digital Transformation Programme Director to join our team permanently Reporting to the VP of Customer Transformation. The Programme Director will lead the development, management, and delivery of our global multi-year Digital commerce transformational programmes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, regions, markets, and third-party partners to implement capabilities, optimize processes, and unlock the full potential of the transformation. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving programme success, realizing benefits, and delivering value to RS Group and its customers.
What you'll be doing:
- Programme Leadership:
Provide leadership to empower, inspire and facilitate the work of cross-functional programme and projects teams through the defining and setting objectives, ways of working and tactics to galvanise the team across the programme objectives. Drive cross-functional team members to develop detailed project schedules and milestones, project plans, budget, scope, timeline and risks and risk mitigation plans to meet programme requirements while maintaining positive team moral.
- Programme Governance:
Development and implementation of the programme governance framework to underpin planning, design and monitoring of the programme delivery, including programme risk and issue management. Preparing, gaining approval of, refining and updating business cases that justify the initiation and/or continuation of programmes (and/or the projects within them) in terms of benefits, costs and risk.
- Programme Management & Delivery:
Day to day leadership of Programme team to effectively coordinate the individual projects and initiatives, programme and project interdependencies (group & functional) and management and resolution of risks and issues. Facilitate making trade off decisions between quality, costs, scope and time.
- Programme Budgets and Benefits Realisation:
Establish and manage multi-million / multi-year budget management process to effectively monitor costs and benefits as the programme progresses. Management, resolution and escalation (as required) financial aspects of the programme to ensure successful delivery.
- Programme Reporting and Communications:
Management of the programme reporting (and associated project reporting) and proactive communication strategy; providing clear visibility of the programme progress through to the Exco (due to the size and scale of the programme).
- Driving customer centricity:
Responsible for ensuring programme and projects are informed with the customer at the centre of defining and delivery; incorporating internal and external data sources to shape the project and programme delivery focused on enhancing customer experience.
- Stakeholder Management:
Identifying, addressing and proactively resolving differences between individuals and/or interest groups. Lead discussions with business leaders and the organisation to clearly define complete programme requirements, i.e., vision, outcomes, metrics, support and delivery requirements. Develop strong understanding of relevant business functions, direction, organisational structure and overall business goals.
- Team Management & Motivation:
Continually manage programme expectations with team members, stakeholders and senior management by monitoring progress against the plan, escalating problems and issues that impact cost, scope or schedule and notifying affected departments. Facilitate programme meetings to drive programme progress and resolve issues; prepare and distribute agendas, minutes, action items and status reports.
- Facilitation:
Facilitation of programme related workshops to enable progression and delivery of the programme. Facilitate programme and project teams and meetings to drive programme progress and resolve issues; prepare and distribute agendas, minutes, action items and status reports.
- External Partner Management:
Leadership and preparation of programme tender processes (i.e., Request for Quotes) in conjunction with Legal, Procurement and Programme colleagues to identify and select partners. Ongoing management of external delivery partners and contractors when required, aligned to specific programme delivery goals and objectives.
About you:
The Programme Director is tasked with ensuring all projects are executed in alignment with the established programme governance framework. Additionally, they will take ownership of specific projects and initiatives within the programme, driving their successful delivery and ensuring alignment with overarching goals.
What you will bring:
- Extensive hands-on experience leading end-to-end digital transformation programmes, encompassing both internal process digitalisation and customer-facing digital initiatives at a senior programme director level.
- Strong B2B background, with a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges, opportunities, and market dynamics.
- Proven track record in delivering large-scale, multi-million-pound global transformation programmes, achieving measurable and sustainable business outcomes.
- Deep expertise in digital technologies, with a history of driving innovation and implementing impactful digital solutions.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing and engaging senior executives across global organisations.
- Holds a recognised Programme Management qualification (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, MSP) or possesses equivalent practical experience in programme delivery.
