Statutory Finance Manager - DACH (m/f/d)

The purpose of the role:

 

The Statutory Finance Manager is a key role in our EMEA Finance Control function, providing technical expertise, ensuring compliance and improving our control framework and processes within the EMEA region.

This role holds overall accountability for the financial statements in the DACH markets, ensuring completeness and accuracy of accounts and compliance with regulatory requirements.

They will have responsibility for financial oversight, including being responsible for preparation of country balance sheet and cash flow forecast.

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for the financial statements and ensuring accuracy of actual financial data.
  • Accountable for month and year end close processes ensuring validity, accuracy and completeness of actual financial data.
  • Accountable for the implementation of financial controls through the market environments.
  • Accountable and responsible for overseeing risk and controls and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for local CIT compliance and reviewing local CIT reports.
  • Accountable for statutory audits and working with external auditors. This includes internal audits well as local audits in the DACH region.
  • Accountable for the forecasting process at a market level in relation to balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Accountable to look for opportunities and make process and system improvements.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure robust financial governance and oversight, including adherence to financial regulations, standards, and best practice.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance to internal governance and controls.
  • Responsible for understanding operational finance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to be reported on within the market.
  • Acting as the conscience of the markets when it comes to financial controls and risk management.
  • Challenge constructively and respectfully wherever required against market and functional plans which may lead to financial risk or where there are inadequate controls in place.
  • Support the analysis of the actual performance of the business (balance sheet and cash flow related items)
  • Responsible for the budgeting and re-forecasting process (balance sheet and cash flow)
  • Provide support, and guidance to the market FD and the broader team in matters of control or compliance.
  • Prepare regular updates for the team on changes in legislation or other requirements which are relevant to the market.
  • Key liaison with Deloitte to ensure all audit requests are completed on a timely basis, working alongside the Finance Controller EMEA.
  • Liaise with and provide data to service providers to enable the creation of financial statements and corporation tax calculations and ensure a diligent and robust first level review of these.
  • Create financial statements in house where required.
  • In-depth balance sheet review, working closely with GSBS on monthly basis as well as part of the monthly close process.
  • Any ad hoc duties including contributing to the department/team meetings to raise concerns and/or initiate dialogue on suggestions for resolution/improvement.
  • Undertake tasks/projects that may be assigned by Line Management

 

 

Required skills and experience:

 

  • Qualified ACA /ACCA (or equivalent) and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field with technical proficiency in local GAAP for each relevant market as well as International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Proven experience in a senior financial controlling within a sizable organisation.
  • Strong and current technical accounting skills, with the ability to lead and educate a diverse and dispersed team.
  • Fluent in both German and English. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. A strong track record in leadership roles, proven ability in leading and development teams.
  • Proficient in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, SAP) and familiarity with analytics platforms and technologies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all aspects of the role.
  • A highly collaborative individual, strong team player who is able to build strong relationships with senior executives, stakeholders, peers and their own team.
