Web Taxonomy Manager

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze ongoing quantitative and qualitative feedback and data from customer interactions, such as search trends and entry-points, to identify trends and insights into user needs.
  • Document processes and standards for how the taxonomy will be maintained and governed throughout its lifecycle.
  • Work in appropriate tools for taxonomy management, data collection, application, and analysis, to surface new terminology by which to keep the taxonomy updated.
  • Monitor and report on individual and team KPI’s to expose opportunities and ensure successful outcomes from deliverables.
  • Define strategy for managing retired terminology and for understanding rationale for changes to the taxonomy.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects with a broad range of stakeholders across Marketing, Product Content, Product Management, SEO, Digital Experience and other groups.
  • Develop strong relationships internally with the business and externally within the industry and with our Suppliers.
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement and innovation mindset.
  • Play a leadership role within the group and role model the behaviours required to increase engagement, optimize productivity and quality amongst the team.

About the role

As a Web Taxonomy Manager, you will strategize, develop, and maintain an intuitive, comprehensive website taxonomy model to optimize product discovery for Allied Electronics & Automation. This role will collaborate with business teams to develop and drive the adoption of information architecture management and governance across the organization. They will work closely with product data stewards and ambassadors to improve data quality and ensure it is managed effectively.


What we’re looking for


  • 5+ years of experience in website taxonomy management, information architecture or information management on a large eCommerce website.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, including experience communicating complex technical issues to drive decisions.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEO and Customer Experience tactics.
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to manage several complex initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills. Experience with guiding and coaching direct reports.
  • Passion for the customer experience and ability to challenge others to ensure decisions are based on customer data and insight.


  • Familiarity with electronics, engineering and/or industrial automation products.
  • Experience working in a B2B eCommerce environment.
  • Degree in Information Management or related subjects.
  • Advanced knowledge of data manipulation techniques within Microsoft Word and Excel, including the use of macros.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, XML, Java, and other computer programming languages.
