Staff Accountant

Job Description

  • Prepare and review recurring journal entries for multiple entities and maintain inter-company integrity.
  • Create journal entries to correct balances in the general ledger.
  • Prepare periodic reports as assigned.
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts, including balance sheet and expense accounts.
  • Input fixed asset additions and disposals to the Fixed Asset System.
  • Utilize fixed assets software to develop and book monthly depreciation.
  • Assist in the monthly report preparation.
  • Assist in preparation of financial plans and budgets.
  • Responsible for working effectively with and assisting external and internal auditors.
  • Support month end closing tasks for multiple entities, including account variance review and root cause analysis.
  • Perform data compilation, analysis, and procedures to ensure effective internal controls and compliance with group policies.
  • Prepare and send periodic reports to management and be able to respond to questions concerning the data presented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About the role

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the General Ledger Accounting function by conducting balance sheet analysis and reconciliation, journal entry preparation, intercompany accounting and fixed asset accounting.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. 
  • 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in common software including all Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business information/documents.
  • Advanced problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent task management and follow-up skills.
  • Knowledge of, and hands on experience in continuous improvement concepts.
  • Internal Controls experience desired, but not required.
