Our Payroll Services team are part of our wider People Shared Services team, and responsible for the timely and accurate processing of over 3,500 employees within UK and RoI monthly.
People Services deal with all employee lifecycle activities (starters, T&C changes and leavers), working collaboratively with all RS functions to ensure that we consistently deliver excellent customer service to both employees and stakeholders.
It is a very exciting time to join our People Services team, as we are embarking on a journey of process excellence and increased scope over the next 1-2 years – with our Payroll Team being a key area of focus.
Role Purpose
This role is to support the BaU of a busy payroll function in an end-to-end process as part of a team. This can be high pressured at times and requires attention to the detail.
Responsibilities
- Provide an end-to-end excellent payroll service to the business.
- Support delivery of operational excellence.
- Resolve all payroll-related queries with agreed timescales.
- Support the payroll provision for RS Group PLC in the UK&I in line with legal and statutory requirements.
- Pay employees accurately and on time
- Work effectively with Finance, PSS, Reward and the Pensions teams.
- Add value to payroll related and associated activities by continually critically reviewing and analysing processes on order to develop and maintain an innovative payroll service.
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external customers and peers.
- Ensure confidentiality in relation to all aspects of payroll activities in line with GDPR.
- Act as a role model regarding RS Values.
- Manage set payroll tasks within timelines.
How I make a difference in this role
To ensure that transactional payroll activities are carried out within the agreed KPI’s and that a consistent approach is delivered whilst maintaining operational excellence in the most efficient way.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experienced payroller capable of manually working out gross to net pay.
- Excellent knowledge of all HMRC legislation (RTI, NLW, Holiday Pay, Working Time Regulations)
- Customer service ethos.
- Numerate and data literate.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate appropriate message/information confidently and effectively with good interpersonal skills – at all levels, with the utmost tact and diplomacy.
- Team ethic, working in a team environment.
- Demonstrates highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- A recognised payroll qualification
