Operational Accountant

Location: This role is offered on a permanent basis. It is a hybrid role, working from our Corby office up to three days per week.
The Operational Accountant is responsible for managing cost and revenue accounting within a specific market or function using SAP. This includes ensuring the accuracy of costs, accruals, and prepayments, and working closely with Finance Business Partners to align on actuals, forecasts, and budgets.
The role requires timely, accurate reporting to meet strict month-end deadlines, including submission of the Group Reporting Pack via OneStream. As part of a wider team, the Operational Accountant also supports the development of standardised finance processes across the UK and EMEA and may assist in other areas as part of a shared resource pool.
What you will be doing:
- Ensure monthly sales, costs, accruals, and prepayments are accurate and well-justified.
- Prepare monthly cost and headcount reports to support business insight and variance analysis.
- Work closely with Finance Business Partners to align on actuals, forecasts, and budgets.
- Track headcount and labour costs to support planning and forecasting.
- Meet month-end deadlines with timely balance sheet analysis and reconciliations.
- Support both internal and external audit processes with required documentation.
- Help develop and implement best practice finance processes across the UK and Europe.
- Provide flexible support to other areas of the business as part of a shared resource team.
About you:
- Qualified Accountant – AAT qualified as a minimum, or at final stage of ACCA/CIMA.
- Proven experience in a similar operational or management accounting role.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP FICO or similar ERP financial systems.
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate and analyse complex data.
- Forward-thinking mindset – proactive, solutions-oriented, and always looking for ways to improve processes and performance.
- Engaging and collaborative – a team player who brings enthusiasm and energy to the role.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships in a matrix environment.
