Maintenance Shift Manager
Location: Corby - on site
Contract Type: Permanent

The Opportunity
To lead, motivate, manage and develop employees and contractors in order to achieve the required customer service levels, without compromising on Health, Safety, Environment or either personal or corporate legislative accountabilities.
To produce work to the relevant standards and procedures, within defined budgets.
Continuously improving processes and systems to maximise the availability of business assets.
To lead and develop projects for internal customers utilising external contractors as necessary
Responsibilities:
- Liaise as required, at all levels across the site and with external contractors / suppliers to help provide our colleagues with the best achievable environment, infrastructure, equipment and support systems, in order to assist in the delivery of the site’s customer service objectives.
- Ensuring all legislative documentation and systems, especially those relating to Health & Safety and the Environment, are up to date, relevant, implemented appropriately and are available to be audited at any time.
- Audit and report on workplace activity. This will include systematic checking of all internally and externally resourced works performed on site – including, for example: H&S documentation used, team performance, productivity and compliance to schedules, etc.
- Deliver effective resource planning and performance, either of internal or external resource, through continuous review and assignment of workload.
- Measure and report on all aspects of departmental performance and effectiveness through the management of departmental Key Performance Indicators. (KPI’s.)
- Forecast and implement resource models that maximise the use of ‘Non-operational hours’. This will include planning and resourcing work carried out by any weekend and Night Shift teams.
- Management of Facilities contractors by coordination with stakeholders to ensure all criteria are met for them to attend site (RAMS, training documentation, etc.) and that there is appropriate supervision in place to oversee the works, to ensure it complies with company standards of H,S&E and quality of workmanship.
- Positively drive the RS Appraisal Process through regular and effective 121’s.
- Empower team members to take ownership and responsibility, driving a high performance culture.
- Manage the team’s training requirements, to ensure technical knowledge is maintained and developed.
- Manage own development proactively and demonstrate role model behaviour at all times.
- To embrace the corporate “values” scheme and drive “The How We Work Every Day” philosophy.
Org Structure
The role reports directly to the Corby Facilities Manager
The role has nominally 11 direct reports and responsibility for several contractor and apprentice roles.
What we are looking for:
Essential Qualifications (Must be evidenced at offer stage)
Recognised trade qualification (HNC desirable).
- Demonstrable, influential, people management skills.
- A demonstrable “Health & Safety first” attitude with relevant H&S legislation knowledge.
- Self-Managing person with the ability to plan and manage priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to all levels of the business.
- Technically proficient with strong analytical and problem solving techniques.
- Ability to maintain a professional image and approach at all times.
- Experience of working effectively within a time-critical, distribution, operational or manufacturing environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office and PPMS.
- Experience of PLC systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, HVAC and Building management systems.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience of project management
- Previous experience in working within a Facilities department.
- Previous experience in management of diversely skilled groups to achieve excellent output.
