The primary purpose of the Product Manager is to manage the supplier relationship in the region (mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, “Greater China”) and represent the Product Category (Industry Interconnectivity & Test and Measurement, “II&T”) within Greater China to drive growth in Sales, Profit, increase customer count, return on stock. This includes making decisions on product range offer evaluation, improvement and coordinating with other stakeholders within RS APAC and RS globally. This position will report to the Head of Product and Supplier Management for GC based in Shanghai.




Local and Regional supplier engagement

  • Supplier relationship management is the key task for this role
  • Drive local supplier engagement with the chosen suppliers within the geography to give RS a competitive advantage in terms of range, availability, total cost, innovation, cash flow & support
  • Manage local supplier contracts and commercial terms, in line with the APAC & Global strategy
  • Support the development of RS brand product offer
  • Facilitate the required interaction between supplier and sales when needed


Make decisions to improve the product range offer and support our Local, Regional Product & Supplier Strategy

  • Provide insights to make decisions together with Sales, Inventory, Pricing, Marketing to deliver towards the strategy & performance
  • Provide supplier & competitor insight to identify gaps in our product range offer and inform our internal stakeholders
  • Ensure that the product range offer is relevant and compliant to the market in which it serves. Complementing the global product range
  • Ensure product portfolios are aligned to our customer needs and strategy
  • Ensure our pricing strategy enables RS to capture more business, maximise net profit and improve customer value perceptions. Get more list prices from the supplier when required
  • Support our local & regional inventory stocking strategy to optimise next day availability and stock investment
  • Ensure the voice of the “local” supplier is represented within the APAC & Global strategy
  • Provide monthly business reporting on range and local business performance and transfer best practices


Support sales, marketing & customers to drive strategy execution locally

  • Gain support of regional & local cross functional teams to execute plans and deliver our objectives
  • Input and selection of articles for promotion for marketing campaigns. Regional & Local Sales & Marketing programs

  • Significant experience within tools, consumables and test& measurements sectors
  • Good analytical skills and a sound knowledge of Microsoft base software tools
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to take ownership and drive results at pace
  • Degree level education or equivalent (preferably within relevant area)
  • Broad knowledge of our external market place in the region and across Asia Pacific (target customers, competitors & suppliers)
  • Ability to think globally while supporting local needs of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills to drive alignment across a Global matrix organization
  • Ability to use knowledge and experience of external best practice to drive improvement
