The Role

Are you a senior software engineer that wants to work on building out and scaling a serverless multi-region AWS architecture?

We’re hiring a senior software engineer to work in conjunction with architects, product owners, systems engineers and other business stakeholders, you will be responsible for the technical design, implementation and operations of back-end systems and APIs.

 

Make an impact as a Senior Software Engineer

As one of our senior software engineers, your responsibilities will include:

  • Being a team player who wants to strive forwards together and not as individuals.
  • Taking ownership of the technical solutions in conjunction with your engineering manager and the wider engineering and architecture teams for the entire cloud SDLC
  • Advising and shaping technical best practices
  • Developing testable, readable and effective production quality code
  • Mentoring less experienced members of the team; leading code reviews and helping the team to grow and level up

 

What you’ll need to succeed

  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience in developing APIs (REST)
  • Logical approach and a high level of attention to detail
  • General understanding of low-level design principles and technical integration skills
  • Good understanding of contemporary best-practices and anti-patterns
  • Comfortable working in a distributed, diverse / heterogeneous environment
  • Desire to continuously improve and produce quality solutions
  • Familiarity with unit testing and TDD practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Have a good understanding of business use cases

 

What we use – hopefully you’ll have experience of some or all of these

  • Node.js, Java
  • SQL (RDBMS), NOSQL databases
  • AWS services – Lambda, API Gateway, AWS Secrets Manager
  • Cloud services – Kong, Consul, Vault
  • Familiarity with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Cucumber, Selenium, Postman
  • JMeter
  • DevOps experience
  • Experience of test plans. test cases, system testing, regression testing
  • Good use and understanding of tooling such as Git, Gitlab, CI/CD, Terraform/ CloudFormation
