Role Purpose

The Compliance Specialist ensures that our product range meets local technical, regulatory, and safety requirements. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with relevant national and international standards, monitoring and managing the compliance process from product development through to market release. The aim of this role is to maximize globally launched range, profitability and customer satisfaction whilst minimizing potential legal exposure for the business.

 

What you'll be doing

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Research and stay updated on local regulations, technical standards, and requirements that pertain to our product categories.
  • Communicate with external advisors, specialist consultants, test houses and enforcement authorities etc. in order to ensure that Product Compliance requirements are satisfied in the most efficient, effective and timely manner.
  • Identify the impact of existing and emerging legislation on specific product ranges and the markets which they are sold into and work with the relevant business areas to address any issues they may cause.

 

Product Review and Approval:

  • Collaborate with product development and quality assurance teams to ensure products meet local technical specifications before market introduction.
  • Facilitate the certification process for products requiring local certifications and approvals.
  • Conduct detailed product compliance audits and gap analysis to ensure conformity with local regulations and market standards.
  • Provide an effective Product Compliance monitoring process to assess the extent and adequacy of Product Compliance by product range and market. Communicate this information to relevant parties in Divisional teams, Group Processes, and Operating Companies and determine and coordinate appropriate remedial activity to minimize business risk.

 

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain compliance documentation, including technical files, certification reports, and test results.
  • Track and report on the status of compliance across product lines and ensure that all necessary approvals are obtained and up to date.
  • Provide internal teams with updates and reports on compliance status, including any compliance risks or required corrective actions.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Lead engagement across Product & Supplier Management, Marketing, Digital and Global teams on all product compliance matters.
  • Work with Global and local Product Management teams, vendors / suppliers and manufacturers to ensure all relevant product regulations are complied with and all relevant supporting documentation is provided to enable products to be offered and promoted.
  • Provide training to relevant internal teams on local regulatory and compliance requirements as they relate to new products or product modifications.

 

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess compliance risks associated with product launches and take proactive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Assist in the resolution of any compliance-related issues by coordinating with the appropriate stakeholders and authorities.

 

Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor compliance performance across product categories and recommend improvements or process enhancements to ensure continual compliance with local and international regulations.
  • Participate in external audits or assessments, as required.

You’ll make a difference by ensuring that products meet local and international regulatory standards, thereby minimizing legal risks and enhancing customer satisfaction. You need to collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage compliance processes from product development to market release, and proactively address compliance risks to support seamless product launches.

 

What we are looking for from you:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs and product safety.
  • In-depth knowledge of local product regulations, including industry-specific standards and certifications.
  • Strong understanding of the local regulatory environment and market conditions.
  • Experience in liaising with enforcement authorities, test houses and external consultancies.
  • Familiarity with international compliance standards such as ISO, CE, or similar is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing multiple / varied sourcing requests.
  • Knowledge of our external marketplace (customers, competitors & suppliers).
  • Knowledge and experience of vendor management processes and practice.
  • Ability to use knowledge and experience of external best practice to drive a continuous improvement-based approach.
  • Effective negotiator and influencer with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, forming and maintaining positive relationships at all levels.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Disciplined analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft packages.

 

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in distribution, e-commerce business in various components in electronics, industrial is a plus.
  • Proficiency in compliance management tools, software.
  • Experience working in a global business environment.
