Solution Architect - Infrastructure

The Technology Solution Architect will be part of our Infrastructure Architecture Practice, reporting into Lead Principal Solutions Architect. The role will be to develop the architecture and overall design for /strategic projects in line with the output of the Enterprise Architects and providing the boundaries within which the engineering teams can subsequently deliver.

 

You will also:

 

  • Support, and actively participate in, robust governance processes relating to target and transition conceptual, logical and physical architectures for application/technology solutions
  • Facilitate the process of making Key Design decisions, ensuring that all key stakeholders can contribute to the process.
  • Communicate the reasoning and implications of key architectural decisions to senior management stakeholders
  • Contribute to cross functional Design Working Groups to discuss, agree and communicate key design elements.
  • Ensuring that the programmes, projects and initiatives are aware of, and comply with, the documented Architectural governance processes.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching for less experienced members of the Solution Architecture team.
  • Financial estimation for overall solution proposals and contribution to business case development

 

To be effective in the role, you will need the ability to work flexibly. Much of your time will be spent working in virtual global teams, with the occasional need to attend the RS Corby and RS London offices, where many of our key stakeholders are based.

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • 5+ years of Solutions Architect experience within Infrastructure (e.g. datacentres, networks and cloud migrations)
  • Security and robustness (e.g. identity and access control, scalability, usability, maintainability, monitoring, alerting, etc)
  • Platforms, specifically AWS/Azure (e.g. frameworks, ERPs, Search, PaaS, serverless)
  • Architectural design and documentation (e.g. methodologies, diagrams, analysis, specifications)
  • Integrated systems (e.g. between bespoke, open source, commercial off the shelf and SaaS)
  • Web and mobile solutions (e.g. internet, http, CDN’s, browser and native)
