Supply Chain Manager

Job Description

  • Ensure stock availability by using proper planning policies and investment strategies.
  • Identify investment opportunities that broaden the stock portfolio using data insight and analytics combined with commercial and market inputs.
  • Sustain market leading service levels that leverage automated solutions for scalability of real-time purchase order delivery information from Supplier Partners.
  • Lead, coach and mentor team members with passion, humility and trust as promoted within the Amazing Leaders framework for RS Group plc.
  • Manages tactics within inventory management that have a direct impact to inventory turns, inventory excess, service and gross margin in such a manner as to deliver the greatest benefit in achieving company objectives.
  • Ensures that performance reporting is clearly visible and understood by each team member and how each KPI relates to Supply Chain’s overall business objectives.
  • Provides for the one-on-one new hire and ongoing training needs of the assigned team pertaining to Supply Chain Planning systems applications and technologies along with the related Policies & Procedures of the department and Allied Electronics.
  • Schedules and performs monthly desk reviews with each member of the assigned team, at which time opportunities are identified and action plans put into place and or monitored.
  • Conducts performance reviews of each responsible employee, providing feedback on prior performance and setting attainable objectives which are linked to inventory Key Performance Indicators for the next fiscal year.
  • Manages the relationships with other business functions, including but not limited to Sales, Operations, Product Management, Marketing, and Finance.
  • Engages and continuously works with suppliers to maximize the effectiveness of Allied inventory investments and/or delivery expectations.
  • Reviews supplier agreements to ensure knowledge of any opportunities which may exist within a particular brand such as rebates, ship & debit processes, payment term discounts, freight incentives, etc.
  • Review and serve as the point of approval for daily purchase orders as defined within SAP’s Approval Strategy and provide feedback to team members when appropriate.
  • Will manage direct sourcing and alternative sourcing activities that support Supply Chain’s main KPI’s related to Service and Cost Management.  This includes engagement between Allied and RS OpCo’s to leverage global inventories where appropriate. 
  • Will engage in the management of the stock rotations process to ensure the timely execution of off-setting purchase orders and excess stock reduction while maximizing our use of returns dollars to net the greatest amount of provision reduction.
  • Will manage the A/P discrepancy process to ensure the team is responding in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that the team is performing core planning functions effectively and according to schedule.  (Exceptions, De-expedites, Safety Stock Invasions, Plan Cancellations, etc.)
  • Will host monthly team meetings to provide updates on Allied performance to the team, with greater attention paid to this performance as it relates to inventory management hot spots & successes.
  • Leverages knowledge of systems and cross-functional processes to deliver continuous improvement and efficiencies for the purpose of enhancing employee productivity, customer experience, and/or Allied profitability.
  • Embeds the Allied “Culture of Accountability” behaviors throughout the staff by engaging across the business to support the growth of Allied and the staff members individually.
  • Supports Allied’s Health & Safety initiatives by promoting safe operating practices while being pro-active in tasks and communications that help reduce safety risks.
  • Could manage or participate in Allied cross-functional workstreams as assigned by Supply Chain Management.

About the role

This position manages the daily operations of the Supply Chain Planning functions and is the direct line manager for the Supply and Delivery Planning teams.  The Supply Chain Manager has the direct responsibility for planning, executing and monitoring the company’s supply chain planning strategies while maximizing process efficiencies and functional productivity. You might have a team you delegate work to, but you are ultimately accountable for what’s delivered.


What we’re looking for


  • Bachelor’s degree and/ or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • +3 years of experience in an inventory position is needed.
  • Must understand forecasting and demand planning principles
  • Must have experience working with sophisticated forecasting and planning systems (SAP MRP, JDA Inventory Planning, Logility, etc.)
  • Set’s objectives and goals through effective planning and accurately scopes out length and difficulty of tasks/projects.
  • Managing through systems by designing processes and procedures.
  • Can effectively communicate (verbal, written and listening).
  • Must have strong leadership skills
  • Must be a team player, highly organized, with strong customer service and analytical skills


  • Previous Management experience is preferred.
