Category Marketing Team Manager

Job Description

Integrated Marketing Strategy & Business Planning:

  • Own overall product & solutions marketing plans
  • Develop and align marketing strategies, annual budget and initiatives across marketing channels and commercial objectives
  • Work with internal teams (including global counterparts) and external stakeholders to create marketing programs that drive consistency of brand and focus on driving the business through an integrated commercial lens

Collaboration:

  • Act as a liaison between the marketing, sales, and product management teams, cultivating, distilling, and sharing insights as appropriate between both teams
  • Coordinate with other members of the marketing team to determine and use appropriate channels such as paid social media, programmatic display, third-party email marketing, etc.
  • Interface directly with third parties including PR firm, other agencies, and trade publications to develop content and execute across channels

Team oversight:

  • Support the category marketing team with the execution and reporting of strategic marketing programs
  • Develop standard operating procedures for team tasks with an emphasis on automation and efficiency
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of all team deliverables, including:

Technical product content development and marketing:

  • Develop new content (landing pages, thought leadership articles, social media, blogs, and other digital assets) for assigned categories or verticals to clearly articulate features and benefits of our solutions to the market.
  • Work closely with Technical Solutions Center team to co-develop and launch technical materials.

Sales support & enablement

  • Interface regularly with sales leadership to equip sales teams with necessary content and tools to help them meet commercial goals

Reporting & Analysis

  • Quantifiably evaluate all marketing activities by identifying and measuring against key performance indicators for all activities
  • Prepare presentations for Quarterly Business Reviews with product management and marketing leadership

About the role

As we evolve from a parts distributor to a solutions provider, the Category Marketing Team Manager is responsible for developing the overall product / category / solutions marketing strategy and overseeing a team of category marketing managers.

The Category Marketing Team Manager is responsible for leading the team that brings to life complex technical product information to form solutions that can solve customers’ problems. This role will be the key liaison between marketing and product management with accountability to engage in cross-functional business planning to meet commercial goals.

This role is both a business leader and functional expert responsible for overall product marketing planning, strategy, and content development, as well as marketing budget planning, management and reconciliation.

 

What we’re looking for

Essential:

•             Proven functional and business expert with 6+ years’ progressive industry-related experience in technical product marketing and/or product management

•             Extensive technical knowledge in most product categories; comfortable with being the expert and authority in those areas

•             Demonstrated success positioning and launched differentiated products and solutions to meet commercial objectives

•             Ability to think critically and solve problems with deep customer empathy

•             Strong writing / communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable presenting in front of groups, including executive management

•             Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once

•             Bachelor’s degree and/ or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Desirable:

•             Experience leading a team of direct reports

•             Experience working with and managing third party resources

•             Strong understanding of current and desired customer base

•             Marketing experience in a B2B industry

•             Familiarity and experience with B2B industry-related publications / media platforms

•             Experience using Google Analytics (or similar web analytics platforms) to measure results
