Data Architect Officer

We’re looking for a Data Architect to join us and support the Data Architecture Lead to create and execute a compelling strategy for Data Architecture, by helping us to shape our future in this space, leading by example, sharing the mission and supporting the new culture.

 

The Data Architect will be working within a team that is key to getting the right ‘data design’ from the onset for initiatives across RS Group. As the Data Architect you will also be key in incorporating additional data sources and designing new data structures in the data ecosystem.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Group Data Architecture Strategy and roadmap development.  You will be responsible for contributing to implementation of a group-wide strategy for data architecture through effective planning, design, and implementation.  Responsibility to both design and embed the target group data architecture as part of the Quantum initiative.
  • Analysis of large, complex business processes and systems architectures across the data lifecycle
  • Establish data modelling patterns & principles to guide the definition, solution design & delivery of the Data initiatives
  • Data modelling and analysis including delivery of data model artefacts including Enterprise Information Model, Canonical Data Model, Conceptual Data Model, Logical Data Model, Physical Data Models, Data mappings, Data flows
  • Create a holistic view of the as-is and to-be data landscape for various Data initiatives
  • Review and support implementation of data policies and standards, working with data governance stakeholders
  • Consult and work with solution delivery teams to ensure solutions meet data model requirements
  • Identify risks and issues in a timely manner and escalate for resolution as needed through the project governance structure
  • Assist the initiative project managers, business analysts and service delivery lead in estimating, planning and delivering the data architecture requirements in the project
  • Ensure all deliverables are aligned to all relevant governance requirements, including Design Authorities, through Data and Solution Architects
  • Evolving the Enterprise Information Model for relevant business domains, ensuring alignment across the group.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Experience working in a similar or Data Engineer background, must have a deep understanding of data models, standards and tools used across architecture and engineering
  • Experience of being a lead project/programme data architect within a large, complex organisation
  • Understanding of master data governance frameworks, tooling & deliverables
  • A strong knowledge of data flows, data analysis, data profiling, data modelling and mapping
  • Knowledge of Big Data solutions including Hadoop, Spark and open source technologies
  • Experience of working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured information
  • Experience of transforming traditional Data Warehousing approaches to Big Data based approaches
  • Strong logical understanding of relational data concepts.
  • Experience of working through all phases in the Project lifecycle.
  • Experience of estimating data architecture effort
  • Strong skillsets in the core competencies of a data architect: systems development (lifecycle management including testing; software project management; interface management) data modelling and database design
  • Knowledge of established and emerging technologies (databases; predictive analytics; data visualisation) global data management (systems and interfaces; standards; roadmaps)
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Proven ability to understand and relay complex data-related issues in a simple and easy to understand manner; demonstrating expertise in big data technology infrastructure and environments coupled with business process architecture.
  • Experience and understanding of secure development frameworks, engineering operating models, and cloud engineering especially on Azure and AWS.
  • Experience of the usage of API’s and consuming data for analysis purposes.
  • Experience of architecting data analytics platforms
