Service Transition Manager
Location: Hybrid (London or Corby)

RS Group is presently looking for a Service Transition Manager to become a permanent member of our team. In this role, you will be tasked with overseeing changes to live services, including the introduction, modification, or retirement of services. The Service Transition Manager will collaborate with project teams to evaluate incoming changes, ensuring their suitability and assessing readiness against established service acceptance criteria (SAC) across various portfolios.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee all service transition activities, including Operational readiness, Go Live acceptance criteria, Early Life Support (ELS), and Handover into Business as Usual (BAU).
  • Define and manage Early Life Support arrangements and activities, collaborating closely with program and operational teams through a well-documented ELS process and support model.
  • Work with the Project Manager to create transition plans, contributing to the overall project plan, and track key service readiness milestones from pre-Go Live (ELS Entry) to project closure (ELS Exit).
  • Ensure planned Early Life Support (ELS) is effectively communicated to key stakeholders, managed throughout the warranty period, and meets agreed KPIs for acceptance into BAU.
  • Organize and chair Early Life Support (ELS) meetings.
  • Collaborate with Live Services, Partners, and project teams to fulfill Service Acceptance into Live criteria.
  • Plan, track, and report on Knowledge Transfer from project delivery to support teams.
  • Coordinate with Live Services for final closedown and handover activities.
  • Understand, document, and actively manage risks associated with the service transition.
  • Capture and transfer lessons learned for ongoing Program and Transition planning.
  • Produce service transition deliverables.

About you
In this role, you'll serve as the interface for IT Operations teams, leading Service transition and introduction activities across a portfolio of projects at RS. The ideal candidates should have expertise in the following areas:

  • Service Transition Management experience of delivering / transitioning services into production
  • Demonstrates a strong customer focus and proficiency in process management.
  • Manages Complexity: Experienced in operating within complex operational environments with multiple interdependencies across internal and external matrix organizations.
  • Ability to handle conflicting demands and priorities, with a proven track record in managing the change and transition aspects of multiple simultaneous new/changed IT services.
  • High level of ITIL awareness, actively practicing ITIL Service Transition Management best practices, preferably holding ITIL certifications. ITIL foundation v3 or v4 qualification is a minimum requirement.
  • Understanding of Agile software development and Project Management practices, such as Prince 2.
  • Knowledge of the ITSM toolset (preferably with direct experience in ServiceNow, Confluence & Jira tools).
  • Experience in Service Transition related to Infrastructure, Digital, SaaS, Application (SAP), or Supply Chain technologies.
