We’re looking for a Lead Parcel Transport Specialist to join our Supply Chain Optimisation team.

We are investing in our supply chain to ensure our distribution centres are more automated and efficient and have the capacity and capabilities to underpin our future growth and service aspirations.
Your role as Lead Transport Exceptions Specialist will be key to our day-to-day transport activities, ensuring our outbound and inbound movements happen – ensuring our customers and distribution centres receive deliveries they need.
You will be working with our colleagues within the business and with our logistics service providers to smooth out any issues with transportation activities.
This is a fast-paced role which involves strategic thinking contributing to development and improvement on what we do today and in the future, including identifying processes that need streamlining and determining ways to process orders and move freight quicker to our customers. The individual must be inquisitive, a problem solver and action-oriented, willing, and ready to dive deep into issues and make smart quick decisions. The candidate must also be able to anticipate potential issues before they arise.
What will you be responsible for:
- Supporting the Global Parcel Manager, including administrative duties and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
- Supporting the daily execution of domestic and international outbound, inbound & final mile delivery parcels/shipments from assigned distribution centres to our customers. This includes customs compliance transactions
- Identifying network upset, bottlenecks, and handling reverse logistics and damage claims
- Proactively supporting root cause identification and resolving day-to-day problems concerning flow, carrier, fleet, and customer issues associated with delivery and logistics network
- Receiving escalation alerts from your colleagues where there is an exception with a parcel/shipment movement and provides a resolution; these escalations generally sit outside of the standard WISMO calls customer services handle.
- Providing input to our business rules for transport – improving our ability to make decisions quickly, with the right level of customer service and cost
- Helping design, generate, and maintain multiple reports, ensuring the highest level of data accuracy, such as exception analysis and performance reporting to effectively monitor KPIs across the network as required or requested.
- Communicates with our distribution centres to ensure they’re clear on what our logistics service providers are doing
- Supporting the Global Parcel Manager with supplier relationship and performance management
- Supporting fuel surcharge management
- Development and maintenance of process documents to identify opportunities for improvement
- Supporting the Global Parcel Manager in delivering process improvements that drive efficiency supporting our customers delivery to promise
- Partnering with stakeholders to build initiatives and tracked activities to improve operations in the medium-term
- Assist with the implementation of new strategies and innovations led by the Global Parcel Manager and other key stakeholders
- Build strong relationships with our suppliers, and delivery partners
What we are looking for:
- Hands-on experience of working in a fast-paced omnichannel supply chain environment
- Experience of the parcel industry/final mile network is essential; cross border experience would be advantageous
- Account/supplier/relationship management experience
- Problem-solving experience
- Experience of data manipulation and reporting
- Able to communicate confidently and effectively to various stakeholder groups, both in writing and verbally.
- Excellent use of MS Excel (for example. VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, and calculative formulas), Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. SAP experience would be an advantage
- Experience in complaint & escalation handling
