Senior Inventory Controller

Hybrid Working – Home and our friendly Head Office in Corby


In this role you will lead the activities of an Inventory Control team in managing inventory performance to meet both target customer service expectations and commercial performance targets.


You will be accountable for the coordinating the team activities to ensure an effective and efficient implementation of their specific category strategy. Considering range, availability, cash and risk mitigation factors, across region and sub region as well as global requirements.


About the role


  • Accountability for the performance of regional inventory for a specific Category (between 80,000-100,000 products), (100-200 key suppliers) and (£10-£20m value of purchases)
  • Creation and implementation of a regional inventory strategy and budget to support the EMEA region (and in support of APAC) target growth levels.
  • Ensuring key Inventory Management metrics are met such as target service levels, stock turn and cash flow
  • Accountable for managing Inventory performance through effective order book management, quality conformance issues and stock management activities.
  • Maximising inventory health through manipulation of system policies whilst driving down slow moving and obsolete products through stock rotations and executing on supplier contractual returns
  • Be a key interface and decision maker in the region, with regard to stock and services by networking across colleagues in EMEA and APAC
  • Engage across and within EMEA region to promote the category & Global inventory strategy to peers, colleagues and suppliers
  • Effective product lifecycle management Focus on improving Order availability and delivery to promise Proactive management and communication of customer back orders, root cause and performance
  • Delivering key reporting to the Inventory Control Manager on regional performance to KPI’s and targets


What we are looking for from you:


  • Experience in international Inventory planning management, techniques and methodologies
  • Ability to implement plans to support the Product and Supply strategy through delegation and performance of a team
  • Experience of collaborative working with cross functional and international teams
  • Ability to anticipate possible next steps; being pro-active and focussed
  • Ability to demonstrate customer-oriented thinking
  • Strong collaborative and influencing skills
  • Ability to develop a strategy and turn this into a series of tangible actions
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations, particularly to stakeholder groups under ‘Key Relationships’
  • Ability to operate within a global organisation and to demonstrate cultural awareness
