RS Group is currently seeking a Local Engineer to join their permanent team. As a Local Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering technical support to end users when issues cannot be resolved by our remote support partner. This position entails occasional travel across the UK and providing support outside regular working hours during evenings and weekends.
 

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee all incidents and requests for Corby, the local branch, and remote users in the UK that cannot be resolved by our remote service provider.
  • Monitor the Hardware Technician role to enhance technical skills.
  • Offer support, guidance, and ticket management from the Corby Tech Hub.
  • Provide assistance to other locations as needed, including holiday and sickness cover.
  • Deliver IT support for UK events.
  • Assist in incident management during out-of-hours and weekends.
  • Support and maintain physical equipment utilized by our internal customers.
  • Record and track all assets within the designated geography.
  • Provide on-site support for project activities.
  • Identify and resolve user-based IT/Telephony hardware and software issues and incidents, ensuring SLAs are met.
  • Conduct application wrapping scripting and testing.
  • Adhere to local working practices, legal requirements, and health and safety regulations.

 

About you
In this role, you will have the chance to offer support to our internal customers in collaboration with our service providers. Additionally, you will contribute your expertise and local knowledge to drive new project activities and foster innovation in local markets globally.

The ideal candidates must have experience in the following:  

  • Prior experience in deskside or L3 support
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in identifying and resolving user-based IT/Telephony hardware and software issues, including experience with core Microsoft technologies
  • Knowledge of managing infrastructure patching cabinets
  • Familiarity with the practices and standards of a service delivery team
  • Experience in a customer-facing organization
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with internal departments and external third parties
  • Familiarity with ITIL principles and working practices
  • Capability to organize and manage workload on a day-to-day basis to meet agreed activity plans and SLAs
