Head of Payroll – UK & Ireland
Location: Hybrid working from our Corby offices
RS Group is looking for a highly skilled and dynamic Head of Payroll to lead the function within our UK&I business. Acting as our subject matter expert you will develop an innovative payroll strategy through business partnering with key stakeholders and working in partnership with all functions to provide insight and deliver operational excellence.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Head of Payroll UK&I, you will:

  • Provide a core service of accurate and efficient payroll processing ensuring all payments are processed in accordance with described processes
  • Research, develop and recommend policies to ensure compliance in advance of HMRC changes (or relevant tax body) which impact all aspects of Employment Tax directly or indirectly
  • Add value to payroll related and associated activities by continually critically reviewing and analysing processes on order to develop and maintain an innovative payroll strategy.
  • Partner with HRSC, Reward, Pensions and Indirect Procurement to deliver an engaging and effective employee benefits package
  • Maintain SAO, HMRC (or relevant tax body), External and Internal Audit compliance in relation to employee remuneration and expenses payments
  • Deliver compliant executive share and Bonus Plans
  • Effective business operation and risk management in relation to payroll related activities. Maintain an effective disaster recovery / business continuity plan.
  • Identify and utilise strengths within the teams to support career progression and build meaningful development plans.
  • Develop the skills and potential of your team, inspiring the delivery of engaging training, good quality feedback and career progression.
  • Create a culture of honest and open communication; facilitating regular opportunities for team communication and delivery of department & business updates.
  • Drive a high performing culture of quality within your team; acting upon opportunities for improvement in employee payroll experience
  • Undertake all people management processes in line with company guidelines such as absence management.

 

About You
As the ideal candidate, you will bring exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to managing payroll. You’ll excel at collaborating with stakeholders and other teams, ensuring seamless delivery, system optimization, and continuous improvement.
 

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of CIPP diploma in Payroll Management.
  • Comprehensive and working knowledge of payroll systems.
  • Demonstrated payroll management experience.
  • Experience in dispensations, PSA’s and Employee benefits packages.
  • Demonstrated team leadership ability.
  • Ability to create, review and supply policies and procedures.
  • Legislative and reward compliance – ability to interpret relevant rewards and legislation.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Numeracy skills - reconciliations and statistics.
  • The highest level of confidentiality.
