About the role

The finance teams play an important role in providing reports to Regional and Functional leadership teams as well as the Group Financial Reporting team.  These are used to understand business performance driving action where needed.  They also enable us to meet our external statutory reporting requirements and support investor relationships.


Highly efficient, scalable, governed reporting processes are key to supporting the organic and inorganic growth of the business and are a priority for the Finance Leadership Team.   A new role has therefore been created:  Financial Reporting Optimisation Lead reporting to the VP of COE Global Development. 


Working with the OneStream team, Group Reporting team, Data and Automation team as well as teams in Shared Business Services, the key deliverables for this role are:


  • Design and implementation of lean end to end processes for design, build and delivery of finance function reports maximising use of technology and a central reporting team (collectively referred to as Reporting Solutions Hub)
  • Working with the Finance Leadership Team agree a roadmap for migrating reporting requirements into the Reporting Solutions Hub
  • Delivery against the roadmap to timescales agreed
  • Management of ad hoc demand for reporting
  • Ensuring adherence to KPI governance processes agreed with Group Financial Controller
  • Ensuring access to/transmission of reporting information is securely controlled

  • As this is a brand-new role, there is an opportunity to shape and influence how the key deliverables are achieved. 
  • The scope of this role is Global and all parts of the RS Group and so provides the opportunity to grow understanding of our business
  • Role will require regular interaction with the majority of FLT members and opportunities to present to the whole FLT
  • Gain experience of how to drive changes in ways of working.   The Global Shared Business Services Team includes experts in Change Management which the role holder can lean on and learn from
  • Experience of leading virtual teams.  Whilst the role holder has no direct reports, they will be working with cross functional teams to deliver a service via the Reporting Solutions Hub
  • This role provides an opportunity to make a big difference to the finance function by freeing up time of colleagues to focus on providing insight utilising reports provided by the Reporting Solutions Hub


What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have the below experience (these are ideal, not essential):

  • Worked as part of a virtual team to deliver a change
  • Delivery of change including creating buy-in and tackling resistance to change
  • Successfully challenged existing ways of working – the vision is to simplify and standardise reporting NOT replicate all the reports produced today
  • Problem solving skills – An example is identifying root causes for differences in a KPI depending on system generating the report.
  • Ability to manage senior stakeholders with competing requirements to arrive at an agreed roadmap
  • Highly organised with the ability to break down deliverables into tasks with clear owners and timelines with progress being regular tracked
  • A clear and concise communicator with ability to show a line of sight between a vision, roadmap and what teams are delivering
  • Attention to detail including ensuring adherence to processes and governance frameworks
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
  • Use of OneStream, Business Objects, Power BI and advanced Excel skills
