The Distribution Centre Data Development Manager provides data and analytical support for the function by designing, building, and maintaining reports, data feeds between systems, and dashboards. Providing analysis to the Senior DC Management Teams, identifying areas for focus or improvement.

 

What you will be doing:

 

This role is will involve working with a broad range of stakeholders across DC Operations, and will promise to be varied and impactful.

 

Reporting

  • Creating and maintaining regular and ad hoc reporting.
  • Standardise reporting across site and automate where possible
  • Utilising data to produce trend analysis and performance reports which highlight performance risks and opportunities
  • Enabling the Site management team and wider business to self-serve on data required.

 

Data Architecture and Governance

  • Supporting data needs for downstream systems and processes across the business
  • Maintaining governance & standards for Operations data & reporting – e.g. data quality, data dictionary, data architecture, metrics standards & definitions
  • Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management
  • Supporting consistent use of KPI’s and how they are measured.

 

Strategic Analytics & Insight

  • Maintains effective relationships with internal customers
  • Supporting value add solutions for tactical and strategic resource planning
  • Supporting value add solutions for predictive analytics and deeper root cause analysis of business and resource related challenges

       

      Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Find new and innovative ways to present data to ensure that the function fully understands the trends, issues, risks, and opportunities
  • Work with RPA and automate data collection and reporting
  • Provide pro-active analysis of key metrics to highlight issues
  • Provide support regarding programmes or activities. 
  • Recognise and escalate potential risks and issues in a timely manner

 

What we are looking for from you:

 

Essential:

  • Relevant experience in data analysis and visualization
    • Analytical capability
    • Effective report design and construction (creating the new and the different)
    • Interpretation of operations, financial and other business data, including the ability to identify anomalies and spot trends
    • Experience of handling and manipulating large datasets
  • Ability to use MS Office packages and advanced Excel and/or Access (VBA experience highly desirable)
  • Ability of managing own workload effectively under own initiative (managing execution)
  • Good communicator who is able to build strong relationships in a matrix structure (influencing people)

 

Desirable:

  • Experience with analytics tools and methods (e.g. R, Python)
  • Experience with data extraction and transformation tools (APIs, SQL)
  • Knowledge of warehouse systems, data and data flows/architecture
  • Knowledge of Data visualisation & dashboarding tools (e.g. Tableau, Domo, Power BI or similar)
