RS Group is looking for a passionate and driven Associate Software Engineer to join our fast-growing technology team. In this role, you'll work closely with a collaborative team to develop and maintain microservices-based applications that power our global platforms.

You’ll have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions from day one — helping to shape and build scalable, secure, and high-performing software systems. A proactive mindset, ownership mentality, and enthusiasm for learning will set you up for success in this role.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Collaborate with your team to build, support, and enhance microservices-based applications
  • Participate in agile development ceremonies and contribute to cross-functional initiatives
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and address production issues with a sense of accountability
  • Contribute to building high-quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions
  • Work with modern technologies and tooling in a cloud-first environment

The Stack You’ll Work With:

We use the following technologies, and we always welcome fresh perspectives and ideas to continually improve our engineering culture:

  • Languages & Frameworks: Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS
  • Cloud Services: AWS (Lambda, SNS, SQS, IAM, DynamoDB), HashiCorp (Vault, Consul, Nomad)
  • Authentication: Auth0 for API authorization
  • DevOps & Tooling: GitLab CI (CI/CD pipelines), Kong, Postman, Apollo GraphQL
  • Observability: Datadog
  • Infrastructure & Automation: Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Distributed Caching with Redis

About You:

You're an enthusiastic and curious engineer who thrives in collaborative environments and loves solving real-world problems. You’re eager to learn, unafraid to ask questions, and always looking to improve both yourself and the code you write. You value quality, reliability, and continuous delivery — and you take pride in contributing to a supportive team environment.

What You Bring:

  • At least 2 years of experience in software development, ideally within agile environments
  • A strong foundation in modern programming languages, preferably Java or similar
  • An understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native development practices
  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-first development approaches
  • Effective communicator — able to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences
  • Strong team player who builds rapport and collaborates well across technical and non-technical teams
  • A proactive and ownership-driven mindset, especially when it comes to production support
  • Eagerness to grow your expertise in backend architecture, observability, and performance optimization

Desirable Experience:

  • Exposure to DevOps practices and tooling
  • Experience with performance testing and optimization techniques
  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with caching strategies and performance tuning for backend APIs
  • Prior experience with GraphQL and/or authentication solutions like Auth0
  • Any relevant certifications (e.g., AWS, Java, or SAP modules)
