Function

Manages employees in the Returns area within the Inbound department.  Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Studies receiving authorization, customer requests, invoices, orders, and other records to determine reverse logistics priorities.
  • Oversees incoming shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of returns.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
  • Directs movement of shipments from returns platform to storage and work areas.
  • Issues written and oral instructions
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates and department.
  • Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.  Monitor department production and provide measures for continuous improvement.
  • Updates current vendors and provide direction to Operations Admin Asst on current vendor usage.
  • Works closely with Supply Chain Dept. to coordinate returned goods, stock rotations, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Addresses and/or resolves errors or complaints.
  • Provides coverage for inbound supervisor as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

 

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
