About the Role

Role Purpose

The core purpose of this role is to provide data and insight across the Global Shared Services functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Order Processing. This will drive visibility of key performance indicators and improved efficiencies across each operational area. The person will be responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining reports using the various analytical toolsets available to RS Group. The role will also be customer facing, so will need a person who is able to deliver insight, actions, and training to various levels of stakeholders across GSBS.

 

Example Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Performance & Planning role by providing data and insight to the GSBS Management team and GSBS Operations VP, SVP of GSBS
  • End-to-end role within BI development - gathering requirements, building/designing a scope, meetings with stakeholders, testing, implementing, documentation, delivering workshops, maintenance
  • Report Automation

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and deliver reports/dashboards for GSBS Operational Performance to generate actionable insights, recommendations for improvement and tracking of our ongoing progress.
  • Work in partnership with GSBS Operational teams to develop new reporting needs and maintain existing reporting.
  • Source and assemble large, complex data sets to solve business problems in new and innovative ways.
  • Provide expert advice on BI best practices, guidance, and direction to our customers.
  • Manage key projects identified including effectively communicating progress, risks, issues and dependencies when there is likely to be any impact on the overall programme.
  • Owns business requirements gathering and outlining requirements, definitions, scope (In & Out), current & future process, and exception Processes & reporting/tracking capabilities.
  • Highlighting areas of concern to Senior Leadership Team and Business Stakeholders
  • Provide customer support and training to business users in use of KPIs while identifying knowledge gaps to increase awareness and understanding of metrics, processes, and operational requirements.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis and communicate insight

Who do I need to keep informed and engage with?

The individual will be responsible for engaging with various GSBS Operational managers and personnel. This will include colleagues based in a variety of markets globally. Strong relationships will also be needed with our Group Data team to ensure knowledge and skills are transferred between the teams.

Candidate Requirements

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role working with stakeholders to provide analytical outputs (reports, dashboards, etc)
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience and knowledge in analytical roles (Computer systems engineer or information systems, Actuary, Data analytics / Statistics / Math, Business Administration)
  • Must demonstrate the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders at all levels effectively
  • An excellent understanding of the technical business insight solution that RS Group has invested in, specifically SAP Business Objects and how it relates to BW / other data warehouses applications and knowledge of SAP Business Warehouse 7.x and how it relates to SAP ERP and other legacy applications within RS Group
  • Highly experienced in using Business Objects Toolsets/Power BI
  • Highly proficient in data extraction, manipulation and knowledge of statistics and statistical packages and languages such as SQL, Python, VBA
  • Strong proficiency in English
  • Proven track record of managing execution by planning and prioritising work which meets commitments and provides direction
  • Experience of effective stakeholder management in challenging situations
  • Excellent communication skills when interacting at all levels with the ability to listen and to communicate ideas confidently yet sensitively
  • Strong analytical capabilities and competent in interpreting and using data to substantiate decisions and drive others to make better and clearer decisions through relevant information
