Single Board Computer (SBC) Software Application Engineer
Location: Remote 
RS Group is currently seeking a Single Board Computer (SBC) SW Application Engineer to join our team permanently. The role is within the OKdo team, an entrepreneurial organisation part of RS Group PLC.

As the SBC SW Application Engineer, you will be supporting the organisation with deep technical discussions with customers and becoming the organisation’s technical software expert. As a strong communicator and team player, you’ll be working both with customers and suppliers with technical support. Your technical knowledge, as well as attention to detail, supports the product team’s product selection and portfolio build, as well as educates and supports the sales and marketing functions to create compelling propositions for our customers.

 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Support with deep technical knowledge and experience the technical support organization on technical issues and returns. Directly interact with customers when needed.
  • Support the supplier conversations on technical topics when applicable.
  • Support and validate SW architectures discussions with suppliers and customers.
  • Test functionality of new products.
  • Create code snippets/guides for SBC functions and or SBC accessories.
  • Make sure OKdo’s HW offering has the needed SW libraries and or SW available to make the offering working as intended.
  • Help with smaller “porting” projects (aka get a function/HW working on other platforms).
  • Support with deep technical knowledge and understanding the product segment owners on technical market analysis, on product evaluation and range management.
  • Train the sales and support teams on new technologies.
  • Attend limited number of tradeshows/fairs if needed.
  • Support product and project content creation.

 

About you: 

As SBC Systems Application Engineer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate across all functions within OKdo and RS Group, as well as your core team of Product and Technology & Operations, including the VP of Technology, OKdo Global Category managers, the Global Senior Applications Engineer and VP Operations. Externally, you’ll be managing external key decision makers for strategic suppliers and customers. 
 

 Key skills required for this role include: 

  • Detailed knowledge of SBC’s, their SW and the architectures, Linux kernel drivers, Uboot, Overlays.
  • Detailed knowledge on the ecosystem around SBC’s.
  • Detailed knowledge around the microcontroller and processor market and products.
  • Experience in end-to-end management of design cycle from product design, prototype, production to Go to market.
  • Experience in RMA procedures and returns/failure analysis.
  • Experience in product development.
  • Experience within; IoT; ML; AI.
  • Expected BSc SE or MSc SE
