About the Role

Role Purpose

This role will be focused on helping to build, grow and expand our offer in the technologies of Automation & Control.  The category includes brands like Siemens, Schneider Electric and Idec to name a few.  Experience with products and suppliers in this space is preferred.  The Supplier Manager will be focused on proactively driving growth and delivering high KPI performance results with existing and new suppliers. The position will be responsible for developing and successfully implementing supplier business plans, co-ordinate supplier activities such as marketing, reporting and promoting RS to external stake holders. Skills in proactive relationship management and experience in driving cross functional teams to execute marketing activities are a must.  This individual will work synergistically with a Product Portfolio Manager in order to meet growth expectations.

 

The Supplier Manager Role is heavily focused on developing and maintaining strong relationships with our suppliers and with other stakeholders in RS’ business.  Performance indicators will include:

  • Building strong relationships with your suppliers and positioning yourself as their “Go To” person
  • Dynamic presentation skills that show both an understanding of RS’ business and the supplier’s needs.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills to drive activities resulting in supplier growth
  • Ability to capture, articulate, and follow up on action items by collaboration with internal and external stakeholders


Responsibilities

  1. Driving high performance in sales growth targets, new customer acquisition, and implementing strategy to gain market share for existing suppliers
  2. Developing strategic plans and executing actions to deliver successful results on high profile accounts
  3. Efficiently launch new suppliers that add value to the customer and re-enforce RS’ long term strategy
  4. Collaborating with suppliers and marketing to develop effective campaigns
  5. Lead and Coordinate supplier business reviews
  6. Effectively promote RS’ long term strategy, core competencies, and competitive strengths to external stake holders
  7. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with:
    • Suppliers
    • Sales personnel
    • Marketing
    • Supply Chain
    • Warehouse and logistic staff
    • Corporate support staff – accounting, business analysts, etc

 

Candidate Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Can effectively communicate (verbal, written and listening)
  • Exhibits strong customer service and is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Must have strong teamwork, organizational, & analytical skills
  • Knows how to set priorities and can quickly zero in on what is critical.
  • Must have proficient level of skill in Microsoft word, excel and power point
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to build effective relationships.
  • Can utilize process improvement skills to figure out how to get things done.

Education and/or Experience

Require two to three years of Industrial distribution experience in similar role. Preference given for a four year degree in Businesses or related field but not necessary.
