Payroll and HR Specialist

The Payroll and HR Specialist will report directly to SVP Synovos/IESA and also support the broader RS Group Americas HR team on compensation matters. The Payroll ad HR Specialist will contribute to the Human Resources team based in Radnor, PA and reports to the Manager of Compensation and Benefits.  Under limited supervision, the Payroll and HR Specialist prepares and processes accurate and timely bi-weekly multistate payroll, Canada payroll, and Puerto Rico payroll in compliance with all federal, state, local, province regulations and company policy.    Additionally, the role assists with various HR administration functions, including ongoing reconciliations and ensures data integrity.   As a member of the Human Resources team, the Payroll Specialist provides excellent customer service regarding payroll to employees as well as day-to-day support with team projects and initiatives.  

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and timely prepare, audit, and processes the Company’s full cycle bi-weekly payroll for non-exempt and exempt employees in full compliance with applicable federal, state, local, province regulatory requirements
  • Process year-end closing, generate W-2’s, and prepare various filings
  • Understand proper transaction of payroll transactions; complete tax reconciliations on a quarterly and yearly basis; ensure UKG processes all tax payment on time
  • Ensure changes to employee data (such as qualified life events, pay adjustments, garnishments, changes to 401k elections, new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, ACA) are accurately captured, incorporated, and reconciled within bi-weekly payroll prior to processing
  • Establish and maintain a robust payroll system and process including systems of record and comprehensive internal controls consistent with best practice
  • Oversee the review of timecards and follow-up with employees and supervisors, as needed; reconcile PTO accruals
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions and requests regarding timecards, payroll, taxation, deductions, and withholdings.
  • Research payroll issues/discrepancies and processes necessary corrections
  • Manages all payroll related activities, i.e., unemployment claims, verification of employment, employee liens, etc.
  • Responsible for bi-weekly 401(k) employee payroll uploads and year end 401(k) audits
  • Prepares detailed internal reports to support internal activities performed by our Accounting and Finance groups and serving as the liaison with these groups
  • Maintains current knowledge of payroll system, payroll related laws and regulations, and payroll policies
  • Assists with various HR administration functions
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll position performing all payroll functions
  • Experience independently managing full-cycle payroll processing, compliance, and year-end activities
  • Experience in UltiPro (UKG) Payroll and Time and Labor platforms are preferred

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Detailed knowledge of US and Canada payroll tax regulations and FLSA guidelines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with standard best practices and procedures of payroll, familiar with internal controls
  • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and extreme discretion
  • Excellent customer service skills to handle and resolve employee inquiries and issues
