We have an exciting opportunity for a Security Operations Analyst to join the team


About the role


As Security Operations Analyst you will provide day to day operational support to the Security Operations manager for RS Group plc, by assisting with the planning and implementation of security measures and controls, and operational application security activities for projects, changes and fixes, as well as security incident management support.


The role is also responsible for ensuring the delivery of our security landscape, working closely with any current or future partners.


This role is as a full-time permanent position, and offers Hybrid working where you can work from home, you will be required to attend the Corby/London office once a week


What we’re looking for


  • Assisting the operational security manager to evolve the Security Operations function including:


-           Operation and Management of InfoSec systems

-           Detect and Respond Monitoring Service

-           Vulnerability Management & Penetration Testing

-           Forensic Investigations

-           Threat hunting

-           Security Incident Management & Response

-           Brand and Domain Security and Monitoring

-           Security Management

-           Security Operations Centre (SOC) integration


  • Providing guidance for the management of all aspects of operational information security services across the organisation, including the support of transformation activities
  • Providing capabilities for additional review and analysis of security events reported/correlated by service providers, and escalation of relevant security issues to the appropriate areas
  • Supporting delivery of global or local security-as-a-service initiatives or other security services across the global architecture
  • Operational support and management of security tools managed by the Information Security organisation



A bit about you


  • Strong knowledge of enterprise incident response program, roles, methodologies, and technologies
  • Strong knowledge of information security concepts, management and tools
  • Broad knowledge about various types of security tools (in terms of capabilities, implementation, and maintenance experience – e.g., anti-virus, malware, network security tools, etc.)
  • Demonstrates strong organisational awareness and a collaborative attitude to build successful relationships and lead teams that will be dispersed across geographies.
  • Ability to analyse and understand vulnerabilities and risks, then recommend resolutions and controls.
  • Ability to influence diverse stakeholders to address identified information security risks, with excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of applicable internal and/or external regulatory policies, standards, procedures and controls (e.g. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27000, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Cyber Essentials, OWASP Top 10, SANS Top 20 Critical Controls, Information Security Forum (ISF))
  • Knowledge of security technologies including: Firewall, IDS/IPS/HIDS, anti-malware, DMARC, SIEM, Vulnerability Scanning, Threat Intelligence sources and services
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with high learning agility
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and applied conceptual thinking and contextual analysis abilities
  • Highly developed communication (oral and written), conflict management, and effective influencing skills
  • Facilitates meeting of peers, clearly articulates issues, enables discussion that leads toward resolution and communicates results to management
  • Strong awareness of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts and its applicability to a security services environment
