Manager of Internal Communications

Job Description

  • Create a strategic internal communications plan in support of the Executive, People and Culture Teams and connect it to the overarching business objectives
  • Serve as trusted communications advisor and partner to the People and Culture senior leadership team
  • Work collaboratively with RS Group functional communications and global teammates to leverage best practices, brainstorm ideas and “amp up” the energy levels
  • Adopt a “Convoy Communications Strategy” to reach all employees in all locations through various channels, tactics/tools, frequency and reach
  • Manage the internal comms function through conducting regular channel audits of current tools and tactics (both official and unofficial)
  • Evaluate and refine internal communications efforts across all workforce demographics through leadership by walking around and fostering cross-functional relationships
  • Keep abreast of internal communications trends through continuing education workshops, seminars, networking with professional associations and online research
  • Consistently share our story, unite our teams and further enhance commercial success in the Americas
  • Lead and align communications efforts across the region and play an active part in the cross-functional leadership team

About the role

Reports to the Head of Communications, RS Americas 

This is an advanced individual contributor within the organization. Considered a subject matter expert within communications.

Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and ten years of experience in area of with one year of team or functional leadership responsibility. May possess equivalent combination of experience and education. 


What we’re looking for

  • Experience in global internal communications in a highly matrixed environment
  • Communications experience in business operations, manufacturing/distribution or work environments with communications challenges
  • Fluency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word applications and familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
  • Familiarity with AP Style writing


Education/Experience requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications
  • Communications professional with 10 years communications experience in internal communications and employee campaigns (or combination of 10 years of experience and education)
  • Significant experience in leading and driving critical internal communications initiatives from concept to implementation
  • The ability to understand the specific needs of front-line and operations professionals to develop highly relevant content that is easily accessible, understandable, and engaging
  • The ability to connect with all levels of management and staff and establish straightforward, productive relationships. Strong relationship management and mediation skills—the ability to weigh partner perspectives, gain consensus and influence partners.
  • Excellent writer with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Uses creativity and fresh thinking to continually improve the internal communications strategy
