The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for qualifying and developing incremental business from prospects/customers that have expressed an interest in Allied or one of our suppliers and may have already made a purchase from the Allied digital platforms


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet and/or exceed customer count, revenue, profit and other key sales metrics established by the business and sales leadership team
  • Qualify new and existing customers and identify potential size based upon business development methodology
  • Engage in phone, email, and video-based sales activities centered on value and solution based selling philosophies for Allied’s products and services
  • Communicate and deliver powerful and relevant value propositions for each customer persona and market segment
  • Request set up of customer accounts numbers to manage activity with new customers to meet and exceed targets. 
  • Process customer requests such as; order entry, provide price, and delivery quotes.
  • Effectively utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM), SalesLoft, and other programs to plan and record sales activities, identify and log potential sales opportunities and provide key information as needed
  • Build customer relationships, identify customer needs and provide product, technical and value-added solutions that meet our customer’s needs
  • Work with and build strong relationships with key supplier partner representatives including their sales, support and technical team members
  • Participate in regular and robust training and development programs to achieve expert knowledge level for products, services, sales processes and systems
  • Actively work with customers to transition their business to the appropriate sales team to ensure a smooth and seamless transition so that the customer stays active and continues to purchase from Allied.
  • Create an environment that aligns with Allied’s values and promotes a positive environment in the workplace

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Experience in planning and implementing inside sales activities
  • Experience in customer relationship management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Dedication to providing great customer service


Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, but not required.  Ideally 2 to 5 years’ experience in inside sales.  Preference for industry experience (distributor, supplier).
