Accounting Manager

Job Description

  • Managing month end closing tasks for multiple entities to include preparation and/or review of journal entries and related support, variance review and root cause analysis, request data from other individuals for use in analysis.
  • Manage day to day accounting operations with the flexibility to monitor and change priorities as needed.
  • Perform data compilation, analysis, and procedures to ensure effective internal controls and compliance with our internal controls framework and policies.
  • Prepare and send periodic reports to all levels of management and be able to respond to questions concerning the data presented.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity for the data for which the team is responsible.
  • Review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Work with other functional area managers to meet their needs for financial data requests.
  • Develop new methods to review data to help drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Assist in preparation of financial plans and budgets.
  • Maintain our fixed asset ledger, assuring proper recording or additions, disposals, useful lives, depreciation, etc.
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business information/documents.
  • Advanced problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent task management and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of, and hands on experience in continuous improvement concepts
  • Responsible for working effectively with and assisting external and internal auditors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About the role

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the month end closing tasks, financial reporting and analysis; internal controls; fixed assets, treasury and audit support (internal/external). Maintains data integrity and accuracy in the general ledger and other accounting tasks as assigned for the Americas businesses. This position will report to the Director of Finance/Controller for Americas and have three direct reports.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.  MBA is a plus.
  • CPA, or working towards CPA, Required.
  • 5-10 years of relevant business knowledge and experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting leadership role.
  • Internal controls (i.e.: Sarbanes-Oxley) experience required.
  • Knowledge of and hands on experience in continuous improvement concepts.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in common software including all Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP preferred, but not required.
