Implementation Technician

About the role:


As an Implementation Technician you will be supporting the on-boarding of existing and future Managed Inventory Services, including ScanStock, VendStock, ConnectPoint & RS Plus Services, via a defined implementation process to ensure a smooth handover into business as usual. You will support with wider Value Added Services team where appropriate in scoping and validating opportunities to ensure the correct solution is being proposed.


You will work in conjunction with the Solutions Implementation Manager, and Head of Implementation, to ensure that consistent, scalable processes are established and observed and to be a subject matter expert on all aspects of RS Inventory Solutions and have a thorough understanding of all end-end processes.


Key accountabilities:


  • Implement industry recognised best practice project installations for Inventory Solutions and acceptance into service frameworks including support for ongoing implementations around break fix & service issue resolution.
  • Work with senior management to implement on-boarding of new customer installations from initial sales visit through customer proposal to systems configuration, installation at customer site (including end user training) and then handover to branch network for business as usual activity such as ongoing replenishment.
  • Support the physical configuration of any hardware (Vending machines, ConnectPoint terminal) along with autonomous break fix support for:
    • Electrical and Mechanical repairs
    • Software troubleshooting
    • Firmware maintenance
    • Machine servicing
    • Connectivity issues
    • Any other hardware & software issues
  • Support customers in identifying and implementing connectivity requirements for Industrial Vending machinery (could include; Fixed IP/Domain/ DNS/WebService/Inbound & Outbound Ports)
  • Provide customers with training to support and service hardware/software relating to Inventory Solutions.
  • Install RS ConnectPoint systems and provide customers with training and support with PurchasingManager & related procurement tools
  • Be a brand ambassador for RS Components and ensure that customers fully understand the benefits of Inventory Solutions and have the ability to articulate this to customers.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and functional representatives to ensure that all practical implementation steps are completed effectively.
  • Work with the Managed Inventory Representatives to coordinate planned range expansions to existing Inventory Solutions to ensure consistency of service is maintained.
  • Develop strong relationships with the wider sales team to support the sales growth of Inventory Solutions - supporting the qualification and conversion of sales opportunities.
  • Perform against KPIs relating to Value Added Services.


What we’re looking for:


  • Appreciation of Managed Inventory Services & eCommerce procurement tools.
  • Experience of working within a service/sales role with direct customer interaction.
  • Ability to quickly understand customer needs and ensure solutions are tailored accordingly.
  • Understanding and appreciation of warehousing/stores management techniques.
  • Understanding of warehousing/stores management, experienced in developing optimum layouts and appropriate storage solutions.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and organised.  Demonstrates the ability to prioritise workloads multi-task and act on own initiative.
  • Ability to work with sales teams to support growth opportunities through effective customer implementations.
  • Forms positive relationships, strives for high performance and is focussed on their own personal development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adaptable and quick to learn.
  • Demonstrable Planning, Time Management and Prioritisation skills, with a flexible approach time management.
  • Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft office, especially Excel.
