Enterprise Architect

About the Role:

This role is primarily a doing role. The enterprise architect proactively leads and supports EA activities that supports the delivery of key EA services. These services include, opportunity exploration, strategy and planning, delivery and advisory, M&A and new venture and maintaining the architecture continuum. He/she helps prepare the business to become resilient and future fit through the pragmatic application of capability reformation and technology steering.

You will work closely with business leaders to create alignment between business and IT. The enterprise architect clarifies strategic intentions, identifies business outcomes, explores implications, impacts and risks, and creates business and technology architectures. You will create deliverables for business leaders that support organisational change and investments in response to business change events toward achieving targeted business outcomes. The enterprise architect can facilitate discussion around the construction of business models, technology, business capabilities, value-streams and processes, information concepts and other key architecture deliverables. The enterprise architect helps business leaders understand, apply, monetize and operationalise existing, new, and emerging technologies to transform and optimize business and operating models and guides technical teams in the execution of transformation change.


Key Deliverables for my role

  • Participate in strategy development, through techniques that include environmental analysis, opportunity identification, technology and business cases, and business innovation portfolio development along with operating model development.
  • Contribute to the development of the enterprise architecture that will enable the business to optimise its market, portfolio and project performance.
  • Contribute to and maintain the enterprise architecture strategies, principles, patterns, policies and standards.
  • Participate in technical due diligence, new business and incubation activities
  • Apply enterprise architecture techniques and methods depending on the business problem being explored.
  • Collaborates with the group enterprise transformation office and corporate development in expressing strategy benefits, issues, risks of initiatives and dependencies.
  • Facilitates agreement on organizational work models and processes to meet business requirements.
  • Definition of baseline and target architectures in support of strategic initiatives or focused business outcomes.
  • Definition and creation of architecture roadmaps considering key sequencing decisions and dependencies.

Your credentials should include:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems or related discipline, or equivalent and extensive related project experience.
  • Eight or more years of business or IT experience. 
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: business transformation and optimization, strategic planning, leadership, business relationship management and business process management, Technology Architecture.
  • Training and certifications in one or more frameworks, such as BCS Business Architecture, Zachman, TOGAF.
  • Experience facilitating and leading multi-disciplined, high-performance teams.


Your skills should include:

  • Experience practicing enterprise architecture, informally or formally or having sufficient exposure and experience of key accountabilities defined herein.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different types of business and operating models (existing, new, emerging and hybrid).
  • Knowledge in all aspects of designing and constructing business capabilities, value streams, business processes, application architecture and organizational structures.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts and theories for a variety of projects
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, valuation and metrics development.
  • Strong anticipatory, statistical and information analysis skills (a plus)
