Commercial Analyst

RS Group are currently looking for an experienced Commercial Analyst for an exciting new role within our Category division.

 

Develop data feeds and analysis to provide negotiation teams with detailed data “playbook” covering all aspects of negotiations. This includes both internally derived data (e.g. cost/sell price history, competitive analysis, web/digital performance) and externally derived data (e.g. market dynamics, material cost prices, competitive positioning in the market, EBIT performance).

 

Also develops and manages standardized tools and reporting suites to empower commercial teams to self-serve where possible. Work directly with commercial leaders to conduct bespoke analysis and in-depth reviews as required.

Proactively identifies opportunities, risks and trends through ongoing analysis of available data sets to optimize category performance.

 

 

Key responsibilities of the role

 

  • Work with category teams to understand data and reporting needs.
  • Report back to Category teams and VP of Category on opportunities to negotiate with our supplier base.
  • Develop the negotiation playbook for each negotiation with tier 1 suppliers, plus support for Tier 2 and 3 suppliers.
  • Develop reporting solutions to meet objectives e.g. in developing data visualization dashboards, tools and decks.
  • Delivers bespoke analysis as required.
  • Actively support selected high-profile negotiation cases to add value to RS bottom line.
  • Conduct regular reviews with Head of P&SM, VP of Category and PLT
  • Be a change agent facilitating the optimum appropriate application of relevant tools, processes and approaches within the negotiation team.
  • Develop & support all procurement functions with data-led best practices and advance methodologies and concepts.
  • Provide detailed negotiation playbook for each negotiation, covering all data-driven aspects of the negotiation.
  • Develop appropriate data feeds to ensure this is replicable across all categories.
  • Develop appropriate dashboards and tools to clearly explain complex data to commercial teams, including impact of changing individual criteria.

Experience required

 

  • Proven ability to create data feeds and analyse data to support commercial negotiations
  • Proven ability to develop dashboards and data tools to support sharing of analysis with negotiation teams
  • Experience working in a commercial environment and understanding the levers of negotiation
  • Experience preparing data for commercial negotiations
  • Commercial acumen, highly results oriented and willingness to learn/develop
  • Positive can-do attitude, takes ownership, and initiative
  • Organized, detail oriented with a strong process and continuous improvement focus
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, to think and act appropriately, and to communicate and work with people from different cultural backgrounds
  • Collaborative team player across a business with fast moving, customer driven markets
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
